Karel Balíček (31/10/1904 Chrast b. Chrudim - 25/03/1985 Svratka)was a painter, illustrator and art teacher. He studied privately with Ferdinand Pochobradsky, Gustav Macoun and Vincenç Benes. He was a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists and the Association of Czech visual artist. Since his youth, Karel Balíček painted in Svratka and environment. Apart from still life he also painted landscapes of the Czech Moravian Highlands. In his paintings (oil, tempera) and drawings (ink, pencil, red chalk) he connected powerfully applied, compact areas of color with lively, expressive brushwork. Balíceks work is characterized by its effective harmony between drawing and color space. Solo exhibition in 1975 in Svratka anniversary exhibition oeuvre; catalog with statement by the artist. Since 1936, participation in 30 exhibitions.
