Ludvik Vacátko (born 19 August 1873 Simmering , Austria - died November 26 1956 Kunvald ) was a Czech painter and professor of drawing.
His parents had chosen a military career for their son. After graduating from military school, he taught drawing at the cadet school in Prague. He studied further at the Academy of Fine Arts and continued his studies in Paris, Vienna and Munich. After leaving the army he fully devoted himself to art and was considered an outstanding expert in the anatomy of animals. Most of his paintings depict nudes, horses, animals and battle scenes. Vacátka chose Ludek Marold as his assistant to create a panoramic image of Battle of Lipan . His artistic expression was influenced by the painters George Židlického and Franz Liebl . In 1928 he published the book "Painting Animals".
In 1943 he moved to Kunvald , where he lived until his death in 1956.
